Government & Regulatory Relations Internship (Summer 2023)


Zurich North America (ZNA) is currently looking for an Intern to support our Government and Industry Affairs Business team out of our Washington, DC office for the summer of 2023.


This intern will work under immediate supervision and perform requested tasks alongside professionals who perform Corporate Law roles. Generally, this position is part of a summer program with an assigned mentor. 


The primary project you will work on:

  • Work on key federal public policy issues by helping create strategies and tactics
  • Policy background research
  • Monitor issue and current events
  • Help provide coverage for hearings and legislative mark-ups in Congress


You will learn:


  • How to effectively advocate on public policy positions
  • How to work within a corporate legal department
  • Gain knowledge of the legal department’s interaction with business clients
  • How to simplify and communicate complex issues for others to easily understand
  • Learn proper behavior in a business environment and deal with principals
  • Sharpen skills in PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Actively Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree
  • Currently enrolled in a college or university program and will be enrolled in the upcoming Fall Semester of 2023
  • Be legally eligible to work in the U.S indefinitely   


 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Economics, or Pre-Law. or related Liberal Arts major  
  • Problem-solving skills in customer focused environment 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Quick Learner
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Minimum cumulative current grade point average of 3.0 (current could mean last semester's GPA)
