Data Strategist


Purpose of this role:


Data is at the core of our Group’s digital transformation. Our data strategy specifies the steps towards our goal of taking a leadership position in building trust in how global companies use data and technology for good.


We are looking for several purpose-oriented, creative and experienced data strategists at various levels of seniority who will be material in developing our group data strategy and supporting business units and group functions in creating and operationalizing a strategic point of view how data and analytics will create value.

Work locations can be: Switzerland (Zurich), Spain (Barcelona), UK (London), Germany (Frankfurt/Cologne), Bratislava (Slovakia)


Key Responsibilities:


The data strategists will:


  • Develop data strategy capabilities in our company and the inclusion of our data mindset and commitment in business strategies

  • Engage with executive stakeholders and SMEs to develop the data strategy for Zurich Group, business units and group functions

  • Establish clear goals and measurable objectives for data strategy that serve our larger business strategy

  • Create, evaluate and operationalize data driven transformation plays in our core business or new ecosystems pursuing growth, efficiency or/and innovation objectives

  • Partner with business functions to assist in understanding client, product and business requirements and articulating needs through the data lifecycle

  • Define and guide «data value management» with an intrapreneurial mindset to leverage data as a strategic asset for good

  • Engage in structured data valuation efforts when it comes to acquisition of trusted data (sets) or M&A cases


Key skills and experience:


  • Multi-year experience in strategy consulting including the development of data strategies (We are looking for a number of talents across a range of working experience)

    • 3-6 years’ experience of which at least 2 years for insurance clients

    • >6 years (senior manager level) of which at least 4 years for insurance clients

  • Proactive, independent working style and high willingness to learn

  • Strong customer orientation, understanding of customer needs and ability to translate data quality aspects into action-oriented measures

  • Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex data issues and to gain the support from internal and external and executive stakeholders

  • Strong analytical, structured and interdisciplinary way of thinking and working

  • Strategic thinking with equally effective execution planning, judgement, and an agile iterative mindset

  • Passionate, experienced and convincing in unlocking the value of technology incl. data, analytics, AI, cloud, data ethics, and InsurTech


Your background:


  • Master degree in Engineering, Business Administration or Information Technology

  • Fluent in English and strong people & communication and storytelling skills

  • Can work in one of the following locations:

    • Switzerland (Zurich)

    • Spain (Barcelona)

    • UK (London)

    • Germany (Frankfurt/Cologne)

    • Bratislava(Slovakia)
