Financial Crime Expert - Trade and Economic Sanctions 80%-100%

Apply for this exciting position in Zurich’s Group Compliance team and support our Financial Crime Team in managing the Compliance risks around Trade and Economic Sanctions. The role reports directly into the Group Financial Crime Officer at Group-level. 

 

The role provides a great opportunity to collaborate closely with many experts, while being empowered to enable the successful maneuvering through, the increasingly complex Financial Crime and more specifically Trade and Economic Sanctions landscape.

 

The Financial Crime Expert partners with Business management in promoting an ethics-based culture, delivering practical solutions, guidance and training, identifying and managing compliance risks in relation to Trade and Economic Sanctions, including supporting on maintaining a robust compliance and control framework around it.

 

What you will do

 

  • Maintaining a global, robust and effective compliance framework focusing primarily on the topic of Trade and Economic Sanctions 
  • Support the maintenance of a robust and effective control framework for end-to-end process around Sanctions screening
  • Provide Compliance expert advice, input and guidance related to Trade and Economic Sanctions on a global scale to the Compliance network across all levels 
  • Support the coordination of a network comprised of local, regional and global Subject Matter Experts (“SME”) for Sanctions to identify new trends, share knowledge & good practices 
  • Serve as a partner of local and regional Compliance officers 
  • Manage the ‘Sanctions-Desk’ to deal with high-risk cases referred to the group by local and regional units 
  • Analyse key performance indicators relevant to Trade and Economic Sanctions and report on gained insights 
  • Support the drafting of quality reports for business leadership, governance committees and potentially regulators
  • Manage relationship with other assurance functions such as Legal, Risk and Audit in the context of Trade and Economic Sanctions 
  • Interact with various senior stakeholders of Group Functions such as Claims and Underwriting, understand their business models, and contribute to their risk mitigation efforts in the context of Trade and Economic Sanctions 
  • Participate in special projects or initiatives, as designated
  • Support the oversight and assurance process with respect to Trade and Economic Sanctions 

 

What you bring

 

  • 5 or more years of experience in Financial Services, Regulatory Compliance (ideally combined with sound knowledge of the insurance industry and more specifically the commercial and/or global corporates business)
  • Preferably with a background and a degree in economics / business administration / risk and compliance or law
  • Strong Knowledge of Trade and Economic Sanctions Compliance regulatory requirements as well as industry standards
  • Strong analytical skills combined with the ability to deliver effective management information and reporting
  • Experience in a complex and challenging environment (i.e., large organizations)
  • Ability to operate in a large financial group, build relationships across business lines, strong communications skills
  • Fluent written and spoken English is essential
