Head, API Markets


The Head API Markets is responsible for the delivery of the building, running and marketing of our API Market place at scale across all Business Units and Regions for (re)use both internally and externally in order to enable faster Time To Market, composable build, predictable QA and Cost Efficiency gains.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Work with key Technology and Business stakeholders to Co-develop solutions with SMEs of key domain Vendor teams, i.e. MuleSoft, AWS.

  • Work collaboratively with Group Technology & Operations (GTO), Business Technology Solutions (BTS), GTO’s Enterprise Data Analytics & Architecture (EDAA) and Business Unit GTO teams as well as Ventures Technology teams then actively market and implement solutions

  • Architect API markets and mitigate risks: Architect enterprise guidance that conveys best practices and common pitfalls for API system design, infrastructure integrations, application development practices and application runtime principles. Identify risks and a risk-mitigation-mapping matrix for coping with and overcoming such risks

  • Lead, monitor and report on API KPI’s - internal Market Share of (Payment) APIs, case driven KPIs

  • Scope of the role covers all Business Lines, ie 1). Retail, 2). SME, 3. )Commercial Insurance

  • Managerial responsibilities include hiring, coaching and developing direct reports

  • In addition to hands on delivery work, collaborate in a consultative fashion with other senior stakeholders (Business Units, Functions, etc.), to provide practical input on technologies and provide solutions to improve their efficiency and effectiveness

  • Champion new technologies and operation excellence by setting and sharing program goals and measuring and demonstrating impact

  • Maintains currency on new technologies and platforms and provides direction on what emerging technologies should be assimilated, integrated and introduced to create and maintain a competitive advantage


Your skills and experience:


  • 5 years + API experience, commercially astute and will domain specific product knowledge

  • Experience in leading technology change and deployments

  • Experience with vendor management, including demonstrated success in conducting RFP's and vendor service transitions, creating KPI’s

  • Proven ability to create business cases, influencing and gaining support from key stakeholders including C-level executives and business partners

  • Awareness of workplace analytics or digital employee experience management tools

  • Experience with organizational change management methodologies

  • Experience in strategic technology planning and policy development
