Senior Capital and Risk Modeller 80-100%

In this role based in Zurich, you will be part of the Capital and Risk Methodology team in Group Risk Management. You will be instrumental in the development and analysis of the Group’s Swiss Solvency Test (SST) and Zurich Economic Capital (Z-ECM) internal models and in delivering the results.

What you will do

• Be a Risk Type Model Owner responsible for the ongoing model maintenance and development of, in particular, the methodology for deriving the projected change in available capital or economic profit

• Monitor and assess model performance and recommend adjustments as necessary, including assumption and parameter reviews

• Review simplifications and limitations and assure model methodology continues to adhere to regulatory requirements

• Ensure model input data and results are appropriate, robust, complete, and models are run in a well-controlled environment

• Lead overall or risk type specific model change projects e.g. to obtain regulatory approval or other projects related to the use of capital models

• Own the relevant methodology documentations

• Produce, analyze and report model results to management, including reconciliation with relevant underlying actuarial and accounting metrics 

• Interact with multiple departments across the organization including the business units as well as externally with the regulators responsible for approving the internal model

What you bring

• Master degree with a quantitative focus: Actuarial Science, (Financial) Mathematics, Quantitative Finance, Data Science, or similar

• Five years or more of experience in the areas of solvency or capital models (valuation side and/or risk), reserving or pricing, or similar

• Preferably a fully qualified Actuary or close to completion

• Qualifications like CFA, FRM or similar are an advantage

• Strong business acumen across both Life and Non-Life insurance including an understanding of the impact of financial markets

• Knowledge of and experience with underlying accounting regimes (Market Consistent Balance Sheet, IFRS 17)

• Self-reliant, committed and structured personality with the ability to manage multiple tasks, coupled with strong interpersonal, communication and networking skills
