Senior Quantitative Expert 80-100%

Are you interested in quantitative risk management and have a keen eye for detail? We're currently seeking a Senior Quantitative Expert for our Model Risk team in Group Risk Management. This role involves the independent validation of Zurich Group’s most material models, including internal capital and replicating portfolio models used for Solvency II and Swiss Solvency Test, as well as strategic models in valuation or risk selection.

This full-time role (80 - 100%) provides opportunities for professional growth within our organization. In this position, you'll not only validate models, contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of our model risk management practices.

What you will do

 

  • Lead or contribute to the validation of the most material non-insurance models of the Group (e.g., market risk, credit risk and aggregation modules for the Group Internal Model, liquidity risk model), this includes

  • Producing the validation test plan covering the relevant model aspects (amongst design, data, implementation, documentation and, governance and compliance),

  • Developing or maintaining validation tools,

  • Executing on the test plan, identifying and assessing strengths and weaknesses of models, providing an overall independent validation opinion,

  • Documenting tests outcome, producing validation reports and presenting conclusions to Senior Management and relevant committees,

  • Interacting and cooperating with key stakeholders in the validation process, supporting colleagues in their model validation activities and in the maintenance of the model risk governance.

  • You will also provide technical coaching and act as role model for younger team members.

 

What you bring

 

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent), PhD preferred in a quantitative discipline, Actuarial qualification is a plus,

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in the insurance or reinsurance industry, a consulting firm or a financial institution,

  • Excellent statistical, modelling and programming skills (R, Python),

  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills,

  • Willingness to contribute to the team's success by sharing knowledge, providing support in line with Zurich behaviors and values, delivering high-quality work on time,

  • Effective communication; fluent English, both oral and written.
