Senior Risk Specialist, Commercial Insurance & Global Business Platforms, (6 month contract)80%-100%


As a Senior Risk Specialist in the Group Risk Management (GRM) team for Commercial Insurance (CI) and Global Business Platforms (GBP) you will provide risk insights to the CI and GBP Executive Teams through effective risk assessments, internal risk reporting and communications and risk policy and governance activities.  Additional responsibilities will come with establishing and implementing the risk management role, processes, and procedures within GBP.  You will work in a small team that operates in a dynamic environment asking for quick action but fostering pragmatic solutions and team spirit.


What you will do


  • Influence the CI and GBP Executive Teams by engaging key stakeholders, within GRM, CI and GBP, to be effective in delivering risk insights and mitigation.
  • Work directly with country Risk Managers and senior executives such as CEOs from various countries and regions, supporting them in risk assessment, monitoring and reporting activities as well as preparing and leading TRP workshop sessions. In doing so the aim is to build trusted relationships and promote collaborative teamwork, seeking diverse perspectives from internal partners.
  • Prepare risk reports and dashboards bringing together relevant data from all regions.  Update the risk reporting system (RACE) on a regular quarterly basis.
  • Support GBP in their goal to innovate and grow by developing pragmatic and right-sized risk management solutions that support the business’ creativity, innovation and customer growth ambitions.
  • Create and present solution proposals for risk management processes and standards and implement them within a business unit in the context of Global Business Platforms.  Evaluate Zurich Group risk policies and adapt them according to local business needs of units with innovative business models, applying sound reasoning and business acumen.
  • Lead and/or support ad-hoc projects as part of a business partnering role that the CI Risk team has.  Collaborate with peers and/or senior level staff on Group strategic projects and topics such as Sustainability.



What you bring


  • Fluency in written and spoken English language
  • Education and experience: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Economics, Finance, Mathematics/Statistics and 7 or more years of experience in related field.
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to explain sophisticated risk concepts to diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to build bridges between business and risk management
  • Efficient relationship management across various hierarchical levels within the organization
  • Excellent understanding of risk governance frameworks and the risk management cycle
