Reinsurance Specialist

Zurich Insurance Benelux is currently looking for a Reinsurance Specialist for our reinsurance activities in the Benelux. In this role you will provide, as part of the Reinsurance Team, technical and operational support to key stakeholders in the reinsurance process.  Internally, you will work in close cooperation with Underwriting, Underwriting Services, Legal, Compliance and Finance on reinsurance programs in the various lines of business.  Externally, you will support the relationship management with our reinsurance brokers and partners. In the context of this role, reinsurance includes Facultative reinsurance, Co-reinsurance as well as Captive reinsurance.

This is a fulltime hybrid role where you can be based out of our office in The Hague, Netherlands, or Brussels, Belgium.

Key Accountabilities

As Reinsurance Specialist, you are key to our business operations and contributing to our goal to deliver outstanding service to our clients and business partners whilst providing support in overall management of our reinsurance portfolio. Doing this timely and accurately is critical to ensure the service satisfaction of internal and external stakeholders. Furthermore, you will be able to participate in initiatives and projects for further process improvements. Some of your responsibilities include the following:

• Collaborate with the Underwriter to review the reinsurance setup and ensure data accuracy and proper documentation of the program/account structure and reinsurance process.
• Support and promote relationship management internally with Zurich Business Units, attributed cedents, reinsurers, and reinsurance brokers.
• Draft and/or review reinsurance documents and ensure they are in line with underwriter’s intent and comply with internal and external regulatory requirements
• Ensure Zurich Risk Policy compliance and governance requirements for the reinsurance business, and take action to ensure they are met.
• Support the development and implementation of relevant reinsurance guidelines.
• You are involved with the preparatory work and administrative processing of our reinsurance activities from A to Z
• Be the contact person for reinsurance related queries internally and/or externally

What are we looking for?

• A bachelor degree (or equivalent) in related field.
• A proven track record of work experience in reinsurance.
• Strong communicator with commercial mindset, good negotiations skill and eye for detail
• Fluent in both spoken/written Dutch and English, knowledge of French is a plus.
• Service-minded and pro-active attitude
• Stress-resistant and not afraid of working with deadlines
• Eager to learn and develop further skills in handling complex, international reinsurance activities
